Maryland Lacrosse Club

Congratulations to the Maryland Lacrosse Club for winning the 2011 Elite Men's Championship!

The Maryland Lacrosse Club won the 2011 championship over Magerks by a score of 12-3. Duke attackman Josh Offit scored three goals, Johns Hopkins midfielder Phil Castranova opened the scoring and finished with two goals and an assist, while Virginia goalie Conor McGee made eight outstanding saves in the Maryland Lacrosse Club's 13-3 win over Magerks in a rain-soaked Sunday afternoon matchup.

Magerks got good efforts from middie Kyle Moffett and goalie Zach Furshman, but it wasn't enough to withstand the firepower of an MLC squad with a strong Calvert Hall flavor, and nearly an exclusive current DI roster. At the face0-off X, former Stevenson stanout Greg Furshman battled Under Armour All-American and Maryland-recruit Bobby Gribbin.

In getting to the title, MLC dispatched defending champions Jack Lingo Realty 7-6 in the semis and Illadelph 7-6 in the quarterfinals. Magerks beat last year's runnersup Marksmen in their semi, and beat BELAX 7-1 in the quarters.
